Locum Family Medicine Physician – Muskegon Heights, MI
Rate: $140/hr + Travel Expenses
Location: Muskegon Heights, Michigan

Assignment: Initial 3-month locum assignment with potential for permanent conversion
Position Overview
A community health organization in Muskegon Heights, Michigan is seeking a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician for an immediate locum-to-permanent opportunity.
This is an outpatient primary care position serving an underserved patient population within a highly supportive, team-based environment.
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive outpatient Family Medicine services
Treat patients across the lifespan, including adults and geriatric patients
Pediatric experience preferred, but flexibility is available
Manage acute and chronic conditions
Collaborate with APPs and multidisciplinary clinical staff
Provide clinical oversight to APPs as needed
Perform minor office procedures, including:
Toenail removals
IUD procedures
Mole removals
Other basic in-office procedures
Comfort with all listed procedures is preferred but not required
Patient Volume
Template capacity: 24–26 patients/day
Typical provider volume: 12–15 patients/day
Flexible patient template and workflow based on provider preference
Strong Clinical Support
The practice currently includes:
3 physicians, including the CMO
Multiple APPs
Dedicated MA/RN support for each provider
RN case managers and clinic RNs
Medical phone assistants for labs and prior authorizations
In-house pharmacy
Clinical pharmacist available for consultation
Dedicated referrals and scheduling team
Patient transportation assistance
On-site security
APP Oversight
The physician will provide clinical oversight to APPs as part of the practice model.
Preferred ratio: approximately 4 APPs per physician
Will consider physicians comfortable overseeing 2 APPs
Provider Flexibility
The practice offers flexibility around workflow, including:
Daily or weekly administrative/charting time
Lunch preferences
Patient template structure
Individual workflow preferences
Credentialing & Requirements
Board Certification required
Emergency privileges/immediate processing may be available
Full credentialing typically takes 1–3 months
Clean license and DEA history preferred
Minor malpractice claims may be considered
Current or recent license/DEA restrictions will not be accepted
