Gastroenterology Locums in New York - Flexible Compensation & Licensing Assistance

Aya Locums is working with a Northern New York client seeking an experienced Gastroenterologist for hospital-based coverage beginning in October. This is a substantial assignment for a physician interested in consistent scheduling and a mix of inpatient, outpatient and procedural Gastroenterology.

The clinical scope includes inpatient GI consultations, inpatient and outpatient general GI endoscopy, and evaluation and management of a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions. Current volume is approximately 4-5 new inpatient consults per day. The Gastroenterologist will have APP support for inpatient consultations along with dedicated nursing and ancillary staff.

The core weekday schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Friday and Saturday include 24-hour call coverage, with additional call and weekend coverage based on the final schedule. The client is looking for a Gastroenterologist who can provide consistent coverage, and I am happy to discuss the scheduling structure directly to determine whether it can work around your availability.

Board Certification in Gastroenterology and at least three years of Gastroenterology experience are requested. Hospital-based and previous locum experience are preferred, and familiarity with Epic is helpful. The client is willing to assist with New York licensing for the right physician. Credentialing is currently estimated at approximately 45-60 days.

Compensation is negotiable based on the physician, schedule, clinical responsibilities and call structure. If the opportunity is of interest, I would much rather learn what rate would make the assignment worthwhile for you and determine whether we can make the numbers work than assume compensation is the reason we cannot have a conversation.
