Choose Your Gastroenterology Locums Dates in Northeast Tennessee

Job description

A health system in Northeast Tennessee is seeking board-certified Gastroenterologists for flexible inpatient locums coverage in the Kingsport and Bristol areas.

Physicians may select individual dates, weekends, or complete weeklong blocks extending through 2027. This may be a good fit for a Gastroenterologist interested in adding occasional locums coverage without committing to a continuous assignment.

Each coverage day runs from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. During weekdays, physicians are generally onsite for approximately eight to ten hours, followed by overnight beeper coverage. Dates that include weekends require 24-hour call coverage. Most after-hours responsibilities consist of phone consultations, and onsite callbacks are reportedly uncommon.

Clinical responsibilities include inpatient consults, rounding as needed, general GI procedures, and ERCP. Physicians can expect approximately five to eight procedures per day, depending on the facility and patient census.

Additional assignment details include:

• One-to-one APP support
• OR and in-house endoscopy nursing support
• Blocked endoscopy time
• Olympus equipment
• Epic documentation
• Primarily adult and geriatric patients, with limited older adolescent volume

Candidates must be board certified in Gastroenterology and experienced in both general GI and ERCP. EUS is not required.

Prior Epic experience is required because the facilities cannot provide training. Physicians must also have an active Tennessee license or qualify through the IMLC before dates can be confirmed. Tennessee DEA, ACLS, and BLS are required. Our team can help navigate the licensing and credentialing process.
