West Virginia Gastroenterology Hospitalist Locums - 7 On / 7 Off - 24-Hour Call

Job description

Aya Locums is seeking a board-certified Gastroenterologist for an ongoing GI Hospitalist locum tenens opportunity in West Virginia, beginning January 4, 2027.

This assignment offers a 7-on/7-off rotation, with the possibility of arranging two consecutive weeks of coverage. The position is structured around 24-hour call coverage, typically involving approximately 8 hours of daytime clinical activity, with overnight availability for calls and callbacks as needed.

The physician will provide inpatient General Gastroenterology hospitalist coverage within an established GI service. The department has substantial clinical support, including nine APPs across three GI locations, along with RNs, LPNs, and medical assistants. Two APPs have advanced GI training and assist with preliminary patient evaluations and scheduling.

Assignment details:
- Start: January 4, 2027
- Duration: Approximately 6 months
- Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off, with scheduling flexibility
- Coverage: 24-hour call, including daytime clinical responsibilities and overnight call
- Setting: Hospital-based General GI
- EMR: Cerner
- Requirements: Board certification in Gastroenterology, BLS, ACLS, and DEA
- Licensing: West Virginia license, IMLC eligibility, or eligibility for a qualifying West Virginia temporary license
- Credentialing: Approximately 60+ days
