Qualifications
✔️ Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree)
✔️ Active Louisiana RN license required
✔️ Current BLS Certification required
✔️ Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
✔️ Experience with pre-operative assessments, IV insertion, phlebotomy, EKG administration, and EMR systems
✔️ Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
✔️ Ability to work effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR staff, patients, and families

Key Responsibilities
✔️ Perform comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including medical and surgical history reviews, medication reconciliation, allergy verification, and vital signs evaluation
✔️ Identify and communicate potential surgical or anesthesia risks to the healthcare team
✔️ Initiate IV access, collect laboratory specimens, and administer pre-operative medications as ordered
✔️ Verify informed consent, NPO status, advance directives, and required pre-op testing results
✔️ Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery expectations, pain management, medications, and discharge instructions
✔️ Ensure patient safety through surgical site verification, safety checklists, and accurate EMR documentation
✔️ Coordinate patient flow between Pre-Op, Operating Room, and PACU to support efficient surgical scheduling
✔️ Provide emotional support and anxiety reduction for patients and families before surgery
✔️ Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
