Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to conduct nursing home surveys and complaint investigations, ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations. This role involves travel to facilities, investigative work, and documentation to protect resident health and safety in long-term care settings.

Work Schedule: Full-time with onsite travel requirements. The state will determine the work schedule, with weekend, holiday, and evening shifts assigned on a rotating basis. Employees must be available as needed and remain flexible with scheduling.

Qualifications:
Education: Nursing degree; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Licensure: Current New York State RN license required.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience in utilization review, claims adjudication, medical review, fraud investigation, surveillance, or monitoring activities; OR
3 years of clinical or administrative experience; OR
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with 2 years of clinical or administrative experience.
SMQT Certification: Preferred; must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively interact with providers, physicians, senior medical/administrative personnel, and residents/patients.
Strong investigative and analytical skills, including conducting interviews with facility staff, residents, and families.
Strong computer skills and ability to learn new programs.
Ability to travel to onsite locations.
Flexible availability for rotating weekends, holidays, and evening shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in nursing home surveys and complaint investigations, including abuse and neglect allegations, and perform surveillance activities to determine compliance with Federal and State regulations.
Prepare written documentation and draft Statements of Deficiencies (SOD) within required timeframes using Principles of Documentation.
Assess compliance with Plans of Correction within required timeframes.
Complete required data entry in Federal and State reporting databases.
Participate in State monitoring during Immediate Jeopardy situations.
Attend required meetings.
Testify in administrative hearings as needed.
Adhere to DOH work schedules and DOH/IPRO policies and procedures.
Travel to onsite locations according to the assigned work schedule.
