General Surgery APP Needed in Potsdam, NY

Job description

Assignment Details:

* Duration: 13 weeks (initial), with potential extension through end of year
* Current Need: Primarily August coverage, with ongoing full-time potential
* Start Dates/Blocks:

* June 22–23
* July 1–3
* August 6–8 (3x12s)
* August 21–28 (flexible: 5x8s, 4x10s, or 3x12s)

Schedule & Call:

* Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
* Weekday Call: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
* Weekend Call: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
* Weekend Rounding: Saturday–Sunday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
* Additional: ~4 weeknight call shifts/month (5:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Work Details:

* Combination of OR First Assist and Surgical Floor coverage
* Specialties: General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics

Responsibilities:
* Assist in surgeries (suturing, wound closure, hemostasis, positioning, etc.)
* Perform procedures such as cauterization, fracture management, and drainage
* Manage inpatient care including rounding, progress notes, orders, consults, and discharges

Facility & Unit Info:

* Patient Ratio: 1:10–15
* EMR: Epic (required)
* Medication System: Pyxis
* Patient Population: Adults with acute medical conditions

Requirements:

* Active NY license (in hand)
* Board Certified
* Minimum 2 years of recent experience
* Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS (AHA)
* Strong communication skills required
* Must have complete, gap-free work history (no gaps >30 days)
* Malpractice disclosure required (with physician statement if applicable)

Additional Notes:

* Professional dress code required (business casual, conservative appearance)
* No cell phone use in patient care areas
* ID badge required at all times
