Surgical/Orthopedic PA – Mammoth Lakes, CA:
Start Date: January 4, 2027
Contract Length: 6 months
Employment: 1099 Locum Tenens
Schedule: Full-time, 3 days/week; approximately 30–40 hours/week
Call: Required
Location: Mammoth Lakes, CA, with potential coverage in Bishop
Schedule
- Typically 1 day/week in the OR and 2 days/week in clinic
- Days may vary based on physician case schedules and department needs
- Potential Bishop clinic coverage as needed
- Shared first-assist call rotation
Clinical Responsibilities
- Mix of surgery and outpatient orthopedics
- Provide inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care alongside orthopedic surgeons
- Perform H&Ps and evaluate/manage orthopedic conditions, including urgent cases
- Develop treatment plans and order/interpret diagnostic studies
- Manage medications and adjunctive therapies
- First assist in orthopedic surgery
- Surgical exposure and dissection
- Wound closure and dressing application
- Placement of immobilization devices
- Coordinate discharge planning, follow-up care, patient education, and rehabilitation
- Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, athletic trainers, PT/rehab, nursing, and other members of the sports medicine team
Requirements
- Active California PA license required — not willing to license
- BLS required
- DEA required
- Orthopedic and/or surgical experience strongly preferred
- Strong OR first-assist experience preferred
