Job description

Shift Details: Call-only coverage; continuous 24-hour beeper call
Schedule: Friday, October 9 at 7:00 AM CST through Sunday, October 11 at 7:00 AM CST
Call requirements: Beeper call with a 30-minute response time; approximately 10 phone consults and 20 patients seen per 24 hours. Call coverage is for both inpatient and emergency room needs.

Patient population/age: Adult
Department description: Inpatient general surgery coverage, including emergency room consults and rounding on inpatient consults. No clinic coverage.
EMR: Cerner
Hospital bed size: 200 beds
Special procedures: Chest tube insertion, central line insertion, vascular access devices
Skills required: General surgery, adult surgery, trauma, laparoscopic surgery, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, Nissen fundoplication, chest tube insertion, central line insertion, and vascular access procedures

Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 30 days
