Locum Tenens General Surgery (Oncology/HPB) – Weekend Call

Coverage Type: Weekend Call Only
Schedule: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 8:00 AM

A busy hospital-based surgical team in Atlanta is seeking a General Surgeon for weekend call coverage. This role offers exposure to complex oncologic and hepatobiliary (HPB) cases while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team.

Practice Details

Patient Population: Adults

Average Daily Census: 30+ high-acuity patients

Case Volume: ~1 case per weekend (first assist)


Scope of Work

First assist in OR cases, including:

Exploratory laparotomies (ex laps)

Whipple procedures

Liver resections
(Open and robotic approaches)

Inpatient responsibilities:

Rounding on 30+ high-acuity patients

Managing consults and admissions

Coordinating care with APP support

Call coverage:

Weekend call for inpatients and new consults

All surgical cases booked through attending surgeon

APP support available intermittently
(Saturday 7:00 AM – Sunday 6:00 PM)

Requirements

Board Certification: General Surgery (required)

License: Active Georgia license required or IMLC

DEA: Required

BLS: Required

Experience: Open to new graduates

• IMLC accepted
• Exploratory laparotomies (ex laps) to Whipple procedures or liver resections, both open and robotic
