Lung Oncology Nurse Practitioner Needed in California - Outpatient

Nurse Practitioner – Outpatient Medical Oncology
Location: near San Diego, CA
Start Date: 5/11/2026
Contract Length: Until 8/28/2026; potential extension
Schedule
Monday–Friday
8‑hour day shifts
No weekends
No call
Full‑time only
Practice Details
Outpatient medical oncology clinic
Shared sessions with attending specializing in lung cancer
Patient mix includes lung cancer follow‑ups, symptom management, clinical trial patients, and pre/post‑appointment support
Responsibilities include in‑basket management and coordination of care
No procedures
EMR: Epic
Single outpatient department
Clinical Scope
Conduct follow‑ups and symptom management visits
Manage clinical trial patients in collaboration with attending MD
Perform pre‑visit and post‑visit patient support
Handle in‑basket messages and escalation needs
Support lung cancer patient care across outpatient encounters
Document and manage ongoing care plans in Epic
Work closely with attending physicians and nursing/support staff to maintain efficient patient flow
Requirements
Nurse Practitioner — Hematology/Oncology
Active California NP license required
CA DEA with Schedule II authority required
AHA BLS required
Must have recent lung cancer experience, including treatment management
Strong oncology background required
Academic medical center experience preferred
Epic experience required
Credentialing
Estimated 45–60 days
Provider must submit all demographic/licensing documents within 72 hours of offer to initiate privileging
1–2 interviews expected
