Hematology/Oncology NP/PA – 4-Day Workweek in Southern California | Locums-to-Perm Potential

Job description

An outpatient cancer center in Fremont, CA is seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a 26-week locum assignment. This is a full-time, four-day workweek focused primarily on solid tumor oncology, with no acute leukemia and no procedures.

Most visits are pre-chemotherapy assessments and short-term follow-ups. The APP may also provide triage, respond to infusion reactions, and support patients receiving iron and other infusions. Initial hematology consults may occasionally be included.

The team includes another APP, nurse navigators, and MA support for rooming and scheduling. There may also be an opportunity to transition from locums to a permanent position.

Schedule:
• Monday–Thursday
• 4x10s
• 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
• No call
Practice Setting:
• Outpatient oncology clinic only
• Adult patients
Patients per Day: Up to 12 patients per day; usually around 8
Clinical Focus:
• Solid tumor oncology
• Pre-chemotherapy visits
• Short-term oncology follow-ups
• Triage and infusion reaction management
• Iron and non-oncology infusions
• Occasional initial hematology consults
• No acute leukemia
• No procedures; physicians perform procedures
Support Staff: MA assistance with rooms and scheduling, nurse navigators, and 1 other APP
EMR: Epic
Requirements:
• Minimum Experience Required: At least 1 year of oncology experience
• Board Certification: A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC, NCPAA
• License Required: CA license preferred for PA; CA license required for NP.
• DEA: CA DEA With schedule 2 required
• Certifications Preferred: AONC preferred
• Certifications Required: BLS
Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 60 days
