Locum Hematology/Oncology Physician

Assignment Overview

Start: As soon as credentialed
Assignment approved through March 31, 2027
Full-time ongoing coverage preferred; minimum of 3 days/week may be considered.
Clinic schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Weekend and night call required, approximately 1 week per month
Call includes both inpatient and phone consultations
Typical call volume: 0–2 calls/day
24-hour on-call option: $4,200
Call-back rate: $600/hour

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide outpatient Hematology/Oncology care.
Support inpatient and ER teams with Hem/Onc consultations and patient-care guidance.
May see inpatient consults before or after clinic.
Average 15 patients/day, including approximately 2 new patients.
Patient population is adults only.
Approximately 2/3 oncology and 1/3 hematology.
Common cases include lung, breast, prostate, colorectal, and other cancers.
Manage chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IVIG, IV iron, and non-chemotherapy injections in the outpatient setting.
Coordinate with radiation oncology and participate in tumor board.
Serve as a supervising provider for designated morning and afternoon sessions each week.

Procedures

Bone marrow biopsies: Not required
Lumbar punctures: Not required
Port access: Performed by RNs
BMT consultation/care: Not required
No inpatient chemotherapy.

Support

Dedicated NP support
Virtual hematologist available
Provider will not be the sole clinician on site.
Navigator support for radiation oncology coordination.

Requirements

Board Certified – Required
Double Board Certification in Hematology/Oncology preferred.
Hematology/Oncology fellowship required.
Less experienced physicians may be considered.
Active state license preferred; IMLC candidates may be considered.
Must be willing to complete credentialing, typically around 90 days.
