🩺 Job Description – Locum Physician, Hematology Oncology (Des Moines, IA)

We are seeking an experienced Locum Hematologist Oncologist to provide medical hematology/oncology coverage across inpatient and outpatient settings.

The physician will manage patient assessments, develop new and ongoing treatment plans, modify therapy as needed, oversee chemotherapy management, coordinate referrals for ancillary services, and participate in end-of-life care and pain management. Radiation oncology and surgical oncology services are available through established collaborative partners.

This role includes both clinic and inpatient responsibilities, with potential limited outreach to Newton, Iowa. The provider will work independently with 1:1 nursing support and utilize EPIC EMR.

Outpatient clinic: 4–5 days per week
Average inpatient census: 10–15 patients/day
Clinic volume: 10–30 patients/day
No procedures or OR days
Telehealth available

📅 Schedule
Clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Patient contact hours: ~6 per day
On call: Yes (schedule TBD)
Weekend coverage: As needed

Requirements:
Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology
Active IA License or Active IMLC
Fellowship Trained in Hematology & Oncology
Must be experienced

• Balanced inpatient and outpatient Hematology/Oncology coverage across two medical centers
• Clinic schedule 8a–4p, 4–5 days/week with call; average 10–30 clinic patients/day
• Travel and lodging reimbursed; long-term locum potential
