Winner Announced for Best Places to Practice Locum Tenens Contest
Sanford Health, the nation’s largest rural, not-for-profit healthcare system, has been named the winner of LocumTenens.com’s Best Places to Practice Locum Tenens contest. This winning facility will receive a donation to a charity of its choice. LocumTenens.com asked physicians to nominate up to three facilities that made a positive, lasting impression during locum tenens assignments. Nominators were asked to rate a facility based on training and onboarding processes, organization of operations, friendliness of staff, technology available, as well as other attributes.

Hospitalists Represent One of the Fastest Growing Specialties in Medicine
Since the term was coined in the 1990s, the number of practicing hospitalists has more than quadrupled. Results from recent surveys demonstrate more physicians are taking hospitalist positions straight out of residency. They also show employing hospitalists could provide latent benefits for other primary care physicians, hospitals and patients, both from financial and patient experience perspectives. While the survey data cannot definitively say that hospital medicine and quality of care are better solely because of hospitalists, improved patient satisfaction scores and efficient care show a clear trend.
