The final rule will require providers to plan for disasters in a consistent way to meet the needs of patients during emergencies and disasters. CMS now requires participants to follow four best practice standards in order to avoid losing reimbursement: creating a comprehensive emergency plan, developing and implementing emergency policies and procedures, creating a well-coordinated communication plan and developing a training and testing program with drills and exercises.
Have you had to change your current policies for emergency preparedness in the wake of recent crises? Read the article and share your thoughts with us.
