Job Description:

APP Staffing Need
• Hospital Medicine APP Program
• Existing staffing model includes 10 NPPA providers.

Nurse Practitioner Requirements
Education/Training
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Clinical Experience
• 500 patients within the past 12 months reflective of requested privileges, OR
• Program completion and certification within the last 12 months.
• Reappointment: 1,000 patients over the prior 24 months.
Licensure
• Active unrestricted Ohio NP license.
• DEA with Ohio address.
• DEA schedules II-V required.
• Ohio license or IMLC-equivalent eligibility preferred to proceed.
Certification
• AANP or ANCC certification required.
Certifications
• ACLS required (AHA preferred).
• BLS required.
Procedural Requirements
• Procedures not required.
• Procedure logs only required for specialty/non-core privileges.
• NP and collaborating physician must sign specialty procedure requests.
• Non-core privileges remain supervised until FPPE completion.

Physician Assistant Requirements:
Education/Training
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Clinical Experience
• 100 patients within the past 12 months, OR
• Program completion within the past 12 months.
• Reappointment: 1,500 clinical hours in the prior 24 months.
Licensure
• Active unrestricted Ohio PA license with prescriptive authority.
• DEA with Ohio address.
• DEA schedules II-V required.
Certification
• NCCPA certification required.
Certifications
• ACLS required (AHA preferred).
• BLS required.
Procedural Requirements
• Procedures not required.
• Procedure logs only required for non-core procedures.
Practice Environment
Coverage Model
• Hospital Medicine service.
• Collaborative APP/Physician practice model.
Shift Length
• APP shifts: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour shifts).
• Sat-Friday
Day/Night Coverage Structure
• Physician coverage:
o 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
o 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• APP coverage:
o 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Call Requirement
• No call.
Patient Volume
• Approximately 20,100 annual encounters.
• Approximately 55 encounters per day.
Admissions
• Approximately 5-6 admissions per night.
Beds Covered
• 25-bed hospital program.
• Open ICU environment.
ICU / Procedures
• Open ICU.
• NPs and PAs are not required to perform:
o Intubations
o Central lines
o Arterial lines
o Open ICU procedures
APP-to-Physician Ratio
• Current staffing:
o 36 MDDO providers
o 10 NPPA providers [
• Approximate ratio: 1 APP : 3.6 Physicians.
