The facility operates an open ICU model with 8 beds and maintains established clinical protocols and appropriate resources to support quality inpatient care delivery. Locum tenens hospitalist coverage is sought on an ongoing basis to ensure continuity of inpatient services.

Southwest Virginia is a region of natural landscapes offering diverse outdoor recreation across 11 state parks, rivers, and mountain terrain. Clinicians on assignment may engage in activities such as hiking, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, and ATV trails, with access to notable natural features including the New River, the Mount Rogers Recreation Area, and Natural Tunnel - a 300-yard tunnel running through a ridge in the Appalachian Mountains. The region also provides scenic overlooks, creek exploration, and a range of park-based programs suited to varied interests.

About the clinician's workday

Clinicians will provide inpatient hospitalist coverage during day and night shifts on an on-site basis at this acute care hospital in Virginia. Responsibilities include managing adult inpatient medical conditions within an open ICU of 8 beds with no dedicated Critical Care team, requiring vent management, intubations, central line placement, and the ability to run rapid responses and codes. No call responsibilities are required outside of assigned shift hours. Prescriptive authority is required, and board certification is negotiable for this locum tenens assignment.
