Physician - Primary Care

Job Details:

  • Leadership and faculty role serving as Perioperative Clinic Director and Faculty Physician at an academic medical center
  • Split role: 25% Perioperative Clinic Director (Hartford Region) and 75% Academic Clinic-based outpatient internal medicine working with UCONN Internal Medicine Residents
  • Full-time schedule with 10 hours per week in leadership and 30 hours per week in faculty practice
  • Phone call limited to back-up resident coverage only
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine required
  • Active Connecticut Medical License required
  • Lead Perioperative Medicine initiatives including supervision of advanced practitioners in PAT and Bone and Joint Institute PREPARE center
  • Attend monthly meetings and participate in Perioperative and other appropriate committees
  • Provide perioperative education oversight and quality improvement for peers
  • Supervise proactive risk reduction for high-risk patients before elective surgeries
  • Collaborate with the Hospital Medicine consult team
  • Provide preoperative evaluation and consultations, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, imaging, and EKGs
  • Outpatient internal medicine faculty practice working with residents in the community health clinic
  • Opportunity to integrate resident education and quality improvement initiatives into clinical shifts
