## POSITION OVERVIEW

An experienced **Nocturnist Physician** is needed for an ongoing locum tenens assignment providing overnight inpatient medical coverage.

The physician will manage hospitalized patients, provide overnight assessments and treatment, coordinate care with nursing and other healthcare professionals, and ensure continuity of care throughout the night shift.

This opportunity is ideal for a board-certified physician with strong inpatient Internal Medicine skills who is comfortable managing an adult hospitalist census independently.

## SCHEDULE & COVERAGE

* **Shift:** 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
* **Shift Duration:** 12 hours
* **Start:** As soon as credentialing is complete
* **Duration:** Ongoing
* **Setting:** On-site hospital coverage
* **Patient Volume:** Approximately 22 inpatients per shift, depending on census

## CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide overnight medical care for hospitalized patients.
* Evaluate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
* Conduct patient assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
* Manage inpatient admissions and cross-coverage responsibilities as needed.
* Respond to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
* Coordinate care with nursing staff, consultants, and other members of the clinical team.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner PowerChart.
* Support safe patient handoffs and continuity of care.

## TRAVEL & EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT

Eligible travel expenses may be reimbursed within the assignment's applicable limits:

* **Airfare:** Up to $750 round-trip, including taxes and fees; economy class only.
* **Rental Car:** Up to $75/day for economy or standard vehicles.
* **Lodging:** Reimbursement limited to the applicable GSA nightly rate.
* **Hotel Booking:** Third-party booking websites are not eligible for lodging reimbursement.
* **Lodging Taxes:** Not reimbursed.
* **Malpractice:** Must be included in the agreed rate.

All reimbursable expenses are subject to the applicable travel and expense policy.

## CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

* **Board Certification – Required**
* Active **Michigan medical license – Required**
* **BLS (AHA) – Required**
* **ACLS (AHA) – Required**
* **DEA registration – Required**
* Clean background and malpractice history required for expedited privileging.
* Must be available to provide overnight coverage.
* Must confirm availability and proposed rates before submission.
* Must be able to complete hospital credentialing and employee health requirements.

## EMPLOYEE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Required documentation may include:

* **Influenza:** Vaccination documentation for the current flu season.
* **COVID-19:** Vaccination documentation or applicable declination.
* **TB:** Two-step skin test within the past 12 months or a Quantiferon test within the past 6 months, plus a TB questionnaire.
* **Hepatitis B:** Quantifiable immunity titer or declination.
* **MMR:** Vaccination series or quantifiable immunity titers.
* **Varicella:** Vaccination series or quantifiable immunity titers.
* **Tdap:** Adult vaccination within the past 10 years.
