A rare locums opportunity that offers the flexibility of working primarily from home after completing an initial on-site orientation. We’re seeking an experienced Hospice/Palliative Care physician to join a well-supported interdisciplinary hospice team in a full-time role with a predictable weekday schedule and low-volume telephone call.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, 40 hours per week

Primarily remote after initial on-site orientation

Interdisciplinary team meetings every other week, Tuesday–Thursday, with remote participation available

Rotating telephone call every 4th week, Sunday–Saturday

Call volume is described as relatively low

The Role

This is a Hospice/Palliative Medicine position focused primarily on clinical oversight rather than in-person bedside care. Nursing and clinical support teams manage in-person visits, allowing the physician to perform the majority of responsibilities remotely.

Responsibilities include:

Hospice admissions and eligibility assessments

Recertifications and verbal certifications

Symptom management and medication prescribing

Clinical oversight and collaboration with the interdisciplinary hospice team

Documentation and completion of death certificates as needed

Participation in interdisciplinary team meetings

Support & Setting

Established interdisciplinary hospice team

Nursing and clinical support staff

Nurses handle in-person visits and death pronouncements

Hospice/home-based patient population

Primarily adult patients

Epic experience strongly preferred

Qualifications

Hospice & Palliative Medicine board certification preferred

Board-certified Internal Medicine physicians or Hospitalists may also be considered with demonstrated hospice experience
