Metabolic Geneticist needed in Richmond, Virginia with Aya Locums

Job description

Aya Locums is seeking a Metabolic Geneticist in Richmond, VA to support an academic hospital program through a long-term locum opportunity beginning in May 2026. This is a unique opportunity to support a highly specialized program, care for complex patients across the lifespan, and work within a collaborative academic environment on a flexible monthly schedule.

Here are the details:
Specialty: Metabolic Geneticist
Start Date: 05/2026
Contract Length: 6 months to 1 year
Schedule Details:
1 week per month of on-site coverage

Monday: Full-day clinic
Tuesday: Half-day clinic
Thursday: Full-day clinic
• Call coverage each night and all other days during the coverage week
• Additional telehealth coverage may be needed on select days outside the on-site week (schedule TBD)

Work Details:
• Patient volume: 1-2 patients per day
• Patient population: All ages- newborn through end of life
• Academic / Teaching: Teaching hospital environment
• Inpatient and outpatient clinical care
• Support staff: 2 physicians and 1 PA
• EMR: Epic
• Skills required: Extensive metabolic experience required

Requirements:
Board Certified in Metabolic/Obesity Medicine OR
Board Certified in Genetics with extensive metabolic experience
• License: Active VA license (licensure assistance is available)
• DEA: Required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
