Position Overview
We are seeking Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) for a locum tenens assignment supporting inpatient and outpatient women’s health services within an Indian Health Service (IHS) facility.
Location: Arizona (Navajo Nation)
Start: Ongoing (credentialing required)
Contract Length: 3-month base + multiple 3-month extensions (up to ~2 years total)
Schedule: Full-time coverage (approx. 520 hours per 3-month period)
Setting: Hospital-based OB/GYN + outpatient women’s health
Scope of Practice
- Provide prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care
- Perform well-woman exams and gynecologic services
- Manage labor and delivery patients
- Participate in on-call coverage and deliveries
- Assist in cesarean sections (first assist preferred/required)
- Deliver culturally competent, patient-centered care
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
Minimum Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) – American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM)
- Active, unrestricted APRN (CNM) and RN license (any U.S. state)
- DEA license (Schedules II–V)
- Certifications required:
- BLS / CPR
- ALSO (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- First Assist surgical training or experience
- Recent clinical experience (no significant gaps >6 months)
- Clean NPDB report
