Metabolic Geneticist Needed for Monthly Coverage in Virginia

Job description

A Virginia academic medical center is seeking a Metabolic Geneticist for an ongoing locum tenens assignment anticipated to last six months to one year.

The ideal schedule is one week per month, with all-day clinic Monday, a half-day clinic Tuesday, and all-day clinic Thursday. The remaining days and nights during the coverage week will consist of call coverage. Some telehealth coverage during the remainder of the month may also be requested once the schedule is finalized.

The physician will care for patients across the lifespan, from newborns through older adults, with an average volume of approximately one to two patients per day. Support includes two other physicians and a physician assistant. The facility uses Epic.

Board certification in a metabolic medicine or medical genetics discipline is preferred. Physicians boarded in genetics with extensive metabolic experience may also be considered. An active Virginia license is ideal, but licensing assistance is available. DEA registration and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are requested.

The listed schedule represents the facility’s ideal coverage plan. Physicians with partial availability or another workable coverage pattern are still encouraged to respond.
