Role Overview
Seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) for a full-time, permanent direct-hire placement at a well-established Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Gastonia, NC (Greater Charlotte Metro area). The NNP will collaborate with neonatologists and advanced practice providers to deliver high-level care in an innovative, 16-bed single-room NICU setting as well as provide coverage for the newborn nursery.
Key Responsibilities & Clinical Scope
Clinical Operations & Patient Care
Level III NICU Management: Deliver clinical management for high-risk neonates in a 16-bed Level III NICU, averaging ~320 annual admissions and a daily census of ~10 patients.
Newborn Nursery Coverage: Assist with care delivery, evaluations, and coverage in the Level I newborn nursery and labor/delivery services.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside a collaborative care team consisting of 2 Board-Certified Neonatologists and 5–6 NNPs serving Gaston and surrounding counties.
Practice Environment & Schedule
Shift Coverage: NNP team provides 20 hours/day of on-site shift coverage. Neonatologists provide in-house daytime coverage and home call at night.
Facility Culture: Family-centered care model utilizing single-room NICU design and combined mother-baby care.
Submission & Qualification Requirements
Education & Board Certification
Graduate Education: Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Nursing (MSN/DNP) [REQUIRED].
Board Certification: Active APRN National Specialty Certification as a Board-Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) prior to start [REQUIRED]. (Note: FNP, PNP, or other NP certifications cannot be accepted).
Licensure, Clinical Experience & Background
Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of current, active experience as an NNP [REQUIRED] (RN experience cannot be counted toward this requirement).
State Licensure: Active North Carolina APRN/NP license or willingness to obtain [REQUIRED].
Prescriptive Authority: Federal DEA registration obtained prior to start [REQUIRED].
NPDB Report: Most recent NPDB Self-Query Report generated within 30 days of submission [REQUIRED at presentation; no exemptions].

Base Salary: Competitive compensation rate negotiable based on candidate experience; salary expectations may be submitted at time of presentation.
