Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Needed in Virginia - No Call
Job description
Neonatal Nurse Practitioner – Level IV NICU
Location: Southeast VA
Start Date: ASAP (with credentialing)
Contract Length: 6 months (potential ongoing need)
Schedule
10‑hour day shifts or 15‑hour night shifts
Days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
No call
Full‑time coverage required
Practice Details
Academic hospital setting in SE Virginia
Level IV NICU managing infants across a broad range of gestational ages and diagnoses
Patients per day: ~7–8
Newborn nursery consults (no prenatal consults)
Special procedures include:
• Umbilical vein/artery catheterization
• Thoracentesis
• Lumbar puncture
• Endotracheal intubation
EMR: Epic (experience preferred; will train)
Works collaboratively with neonatology team, L&D staff, and NICU providers
Clinical Scope
Comprehensive Level IV neonatal care
Attend high‑risk deliveries (L&D experience required)
Perform neonatal resuscitation and procedural interventions
Interpret clinical findings, labs, and imaging
Support newborn nursery consults
Manage acute and complex neonatal conditions
Coordinate care within multidisciplinary teams
Requirements
Neonatal Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified
Active Virginia license at submission (compact accepted; no new license sponsorship)
DEA required
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
Minimum 2 years recent Level IV NICU experience
Experience in L&D delivery support
Epic experience preferred
Credentialing
Estimated credentialing varies; license must be in hand at submission
Standard onboarding documentation required
