Neonatology Nurse Practitioner Needed in Huntington, WV
Job description
Neonatology Nurse Practitioner Needed in Huntington, WV:
Start Date: ASAP (Target: September 2026)
Contract Length: 26 weeks with the option to extend
Schedule
12-hour and 24-hour shifts
12-hour shifts begin at 7:00 PM
No call
Minimum commitment of 6–8 shifts per month through January 2027
On-call sleep room available 11:00 PM–5:00 AM only if the unit census allows
Work Details
Level III NICU
36-bed unit with 20 single-family rooms and 8 double rooms
Average patient load: 10 or fewer neonates (may increase based on census and acuity)
Care for 23-week gestation through term neonates
Pediatric surgery patients
Therapeutic Hypothermia treatment for HIE patients
Stabilize and transfer ECMO and cardiac surgery patients
Daily multidisciplinary rounds
NNP responsible for daily assessments, documentation, TPN calculations, and feeding calculations
EMR: Cerner
Support staff includes:
Neonatologists
Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
NICU Fellows
Residents
Social Workers
Required Skills
Lumbar punctures
Intubations
Line placements (UAC, UVC, PICC, arterial lines)
Pleural air removal
Arterial sticks
Comfortable managing critically ill neonates in a Level III NICU
Requirements
Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification
Active West Virginia RN license (or willing to license)
Advanced Practice Recognition by the West Virginia State Board of Registered Professional Nurses
NRP certification
CP certification
Minimum 3–5 years of Neonatology experience
Cerner experience preferred
Practice Setting
Acute Care Hospital
Level III NICU
Credentialing Timeframe: Up to 60 days
