The facility houses a Level IV, 56-bed NICU with very high acuity, supported by a highly collaborative team of medical professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional neonatal care.

Physician Assistant - Neonatology

Job Details:

  • Locum Tenens opportunity in a Level IV, 56-bed NICU with very high acuity patient population
  • APPs work in collaboration with MDs, overseeing the daily care of neonatal patients as a primary provider
  • Night and weekend shifts required; weekday evening/night shifts run 4p-8a (Monday-Friday)
  • Weekend evening/night shifts run 7p-7a (Saturday-Sunday); 24-hour shifts can also be accommodated any day of the week
  • During evenings, nights, and weekends, 2-3 APPs may be on shift simultaneously
  • Orientation consists of 3 full weekday shifts, 2 evening/night shifts, and 2 weekend shifts, including setup of picture ID, Cerner access, and scrub machine access
  • During orientation, providers will be paired with a facility APP to shadow and orient with
  • Ground and air transport capabilities required; transport orientation includes two 1-hour online training courses to be completed before the first day and a 45-minute in-person training at the Life Lion hangar
  • A 4-hour and 45-minute online EMR training must be completed prior to the first day
  • Required procedural skills include: PICC/UVC/UAC lines, chest tubes, lumbar punctures, and intubations
  • Up to 10 patient encounters per shift
  • Pennsylvania license required; IMLC accepted; Penn State prefers candidates with an active PA license but will consider candidates who have begun the PA licensure application process with the right skill set
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Board certification required; estimated credentialing timeframe is 60-120 days
  • Nearest airport is Harrisburg International
  • Overtime requires approval from Practice Administration

Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
