Responsibilities include therapeutic hypothermia (cooling) and stabilization of neonates, with surgical cases requiring transfer to an appropriate facility. The unit accepts neonates transferred from rural hospitals and returns patients requiring surgery to the appropriate receiving center. NP coverage is available on-site 24 hours a day, and board certification in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine is required for this assignment.
