Locum Physician – Neonatology (Level IV NICU) | Long Beach, CA

We are seeking a Board-Certified Neonatologist for ongoing locum coverage at a Level IV NICU in Long Beach, California. This is an in-house coverage opportunity at a community hospital setting with a strong clinical support structure.

Schedule
In-house shift coverage with flexible options:

Weekdays
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Day Shift)
3:00 PM – 9:00 AM (Night Shift)
24-hour shifts (combination of day + night)

Weekends
Friday 3:00 PM – Saturday 9:00 AM
Saturday 9:00 AM – Sunday 9:00 AM
Sunday 9:00 AM – Monday 9:00 AM

On-Call
24-hour in-house call coverage
Neonatologist-only model (no NP/PA support)
No ECMO responsibilities

Clinical Details
Level IV NICU
Average daily census: ~14 infants
Neonatologist is the only provider performing intubations
Moderate sedation may be available (exam required if participating)

Inpatient Responsibilities
Inpatient duties are minimal. Hospitalists admit all patients, and the locum physician typically provides phone consult support with very rare in-person hospital consults.

Requirements
Board Certified in Neonatology
Active California License
Recent Level IV NICU experience within the past 12 months
