This healthcare facility is part of a comprehensive medical network providing specialized neonatal and pediatric care to the Upper Peninsula region. The facility features a 21-bed department with Level II trauma capabilities, offering advanced care for critically ill newborns and pediatric patients with strong support systems in place.
Opportunity:
Physician (MD) - Pediatrics - Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
Job Details:
• Manage 10 patient encounters per shift in a 21-bed neonatal intensive care unit
• Provide expert care for complex neonatal conditions including respiratory distress syndrome, intrauterine growth restriction, jaundice, and sepsis
• Offer guidance and emotional support to families during high-stress situations involving critically ill newborns
• Perform advanced procedures including intubation, chest tube placement, central line insertion, paracentesis, spinal taps, exchange transfusions, and thermal cooling
• Manage ventilator support including oscillators and inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) therapy
• Level III NICU experience required with expertise in invasive and non-invasive ventilation management
• Must be board certified with PALS certification required
• Michigan medical license required with 60-day credentialing timeframe
• Fellowship training required with neonatal-perinatal medicine specialization
• Initial assignment from July 13, 2026 through July 28, 2026 with potential for ongoing coverage
• Lodging available at Best Western Plus with convenient access to Sawyer International Airport
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
