Neonatal - Perinatal Medicine Locums - 24 Hour On Call - Texas

Job description

A Level IV NICU in Lubbock, Texas is seeking board-certified Neonatal Perinatal Medicine physicians to provide ongoing locums coverage starting June 2026. This role offers in-house 24-hour shifts, strong NP support, and a well-established neonatal program.

Position Details
- Specialty: Pediatrics – Neonatal–Perinatal Medicine
- End Date: Ongoing
- Coverage Type: Call Only (In-house)
- Shifts: 24-hour shifts, 5:00a–5:00a
- Minimum Commitment: 7 shifts per month
- Providers Needed: 1–2

Onsite Call Room Available

Practice Setting:
- Level IV NICU
- Inpatient only
- EMR: Epic
- CV surgery cases referred out

Clinical Responsibilities
- Daily patient rounding and Epic documentation
- Developing and managing plans of care
- Performing neonatal procedures
- Completing perinatal consults
- Occasional medical student or resident shadowing (no teaching responsibility)

Support & Volume
- Support Staff: 2 NPs (daytime onsite, nighttime on-call)
- Average Patients per Shift: ~38

Required Skills
- Level II Nursery / NICU experience
- Ventilation management (ETT, CPAP, BiPAP)
- Nitric oxide (iNO)
- Chest tube insertion
- Exchange transfusions
- Management of acute volume and BP issues
- Lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis

Provider Requirements
- Board Certified – Neonatal–Perinatal Medicine
- Active Texas medical license (required)
- DEA (required)
- NRP certification (required)
- Credentialing timeframe: ~90 days
