Neuro Spine Surgery APP Needed in CA (will license PAs only)

Start: December

Contract Length: 4-6 months
Shift Details: M-F 8-5, no weekends, no holidays
Schedule: full time

Work Details:

· Support staff: Team of 7 APPs in outpatient clinic, support 5 surgeons and 2 physiatrists, MAs and patient navigators help in clinic for scheduling and admin. APPs take care of all clinical aspects, exams, triaging calls, ordering imaging
· Amount of coverage needed per month: every week, M-F
· Patients per day: 20-22 patients/day in person, if taking telehealth visits it may go up to 26
· Patient population/age: all adult
· Department description: sees only neuro-spine surgery patients, has both surgical and non surgical patients. Strictly clinic, no OR time, no inpatient, all outpatient. APP offers support to surgeons in clinic. Surgeons/fellows will do first visit and pre-op visits, APP will handle post-op and follow up appointments, take messages, order imaging, order medications, etc.

**please note, APP will not be utilized in OR. APP will work in outpatient setting only, as OR time gets allocated to residents and fellows before APPs**

· EMR: Epic
· Special Procedures: Bread and butter outpatient surgery procedures like staple removal, drain removal, wound care. If the APP has a background in trigger point, hips, and/or knee injections that’s a plus and APP may be asked to do injections if they have experience. Not required

Skills required:
· At least 2-3 years working in ortho spine surgery, neuro spine surgery, or pain management with spine patients. Will consider neurosurgery providers as long as they have thorough experience with neuro-spine cases.
· May consider neurology experienced providers should they have experience with spine

Practice Setting:
· Outpatient
· Hospital

Requirements:
- For PAs:
Must hold a master's degree in physician assistant studies

· License required: CA license required, open to PA licensing
· DEA: Required with schedule 2 and 2n
· · Certifications required: BLS

· Minimum experience required:
