Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Neurosurgery (Outpatient & Inpatient Hybrid)
Target Start Date: March 16, 2026
Contract Length: 26‑week assignment (full‑time) potential ongoing need
Schedule
Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours, no call
Shift Structure & Expectations:
Day shift only
Standard 5×8 schedule (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
Full‑time, every week
EMR: Epic
Practice Details
Setting:
Hybrid neurosurgery service: 70% outpatient clinic, 30% inpatient
Adult patient population
Support:
Outpatient: surgery scheduler, MA, scribe
Inpatient: more independent; works directly with surgeon
Clinical Responsibilities Include:
Managing pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative neurosurgery patients
Outpatient volume: 15–20 patients/day
Surgical volume: 5–7 surgeries/week
Basic procedures: drain removal, wound care, suture/staple removal
Expected to function efficiently in a high‑acuity, fast‑paced surgical environment
Requirements
Role: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Neurosurgery
Board Certification:
NPs: ACNP‑BC, AGACNP‑BC, ACNPC‑AG, or ACNPC
PAs: Master’s degree in PA Studies (required)
Experience:
Strongly prefer 3–5 years neurosurgery experience
Minimum 1 year required
Will consider other high‑acuity surgical specialties
License:
State license required (NP: CA; PA: CA not required at submission)
DEA:
DEA with Schedule 2/2N required
Certifications:
BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
Credentialing Timeframe: ~60–90 days
Location
Monterey, California — outpatient neurosurgery clinic + inpatient surgical service
