Assignment Details

ASAP start
Contract Length: 25 weeks
Full-time schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
No weekends or holidays
100% outpatient coverage

Practice Setting

Academic hospital outpatient spine clinic
No OR responsibilities
No inpatient responsibilities
EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

Manage post-op and follow-up spine patients independently
Conduct outpatient consults and clinical evaluations
Order imaging and medications
Triage patient calls and coordinate ongoing care
Provide clinical support to neurosurgeons and physiatrists
Perform basic outpatient procedures including:
Staple removal
Drain removal
Wound care
Optional injection procedures for experienced providers (trigger point, hip, or knee injections)

Patient Volume

Approximately 20–22 patients per day in clinic
Up to 26 daily encounters including telehealth visits

Support Structure

Team of 7 APPs
Support for 5 surgeons and 2 physiatrists
Dedicated MAs and patient navigators assist with scheduling and administrative workflow

Requirements

Minimum 2–3 years of spine-focused experience required
Background in one or more of the following preferred:
Neuro-spine surgery
Orthopedic spine surgery
Pain management with spine patients
Neurosurgery with extensive neuro-spine exposure
Neurology with significant spine experience
Strong outpatient and independent consult experience required
Academic medical center experience strongly preferred

Licensure & Certifications

California NP license required for Nurse Practitioners
Open to licensing Physician Assistants
DEA required with Schedule II authorization
BLS required
