Locum Tenens Neurosurgery Physician Assistant PA/NP Needed in Cooperstown, NY

Overview:
Weatherby Healthcare is currently seeking a Board Certified Neurosurgery Physician Assistant for a full-time locum tenens assignment at a Trauma Level 3 acute hospital in Cooperstown, NY. This is an excellent opportunity to work a standard daytime schedule alongside a dedicated neurosurgery team.

Assignment Details:

Dates: April 13, 2026 – June 30, 2026.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There is no call required, though the facility is open to discussing it if you absolutely need call hours.

Clinical Scope: Duties include first assisting on surgery, rounding, minor procedures, suturing wounds, and wound aspirations. You will also have clinic duties once a week seeing 10–15 patients per day.

Patient & Case Mix: Cases are a typical cross-spectrum consisting of approximately 80% spine surgery and 20% cranial-based surgery. Expect an average of 5–7 surgeries a week, with fluctuating census volumes depending on elective schedules and ICU consults.

Support Staff: You will be working with a full-time Neurosurgery attending, along with MDs and a per diem PA.

EMR System: EPIC.

Requirements:

Board Certification: Must be Certified.

Certifications: Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) are required.

License: An active New York (NY) state license is strictly required, as the client is not able to wait for a new license to process.

Permits: An active DEA is required; however, a Controlled Substance Permit is not needed.
