Neurosurgeon - Adult Trauma Call Coverage in California
Job description
Aya Locums is working with a California hospital seeking a Neurosurgeon for ongoing adult trauma call coverage.
This is a long-term need built around approximately one week of 24-hour beeper call every 1-2 months with no clinic responsibilities. The Neurosurgeon will support an established Level II Trauma Center and should have current or recent experience managing both cranial and spine trauma - including emergent operative cases and high cervical injuries.
The clinical scope includes adult neurosurgical trauma with procedures such as decompressive craniectomy, evacuation of epidural or subdural hematomas, ICP monitor or EVD placement, spinal decompression, and cervical, thoracic and lumbar fusion. The ICU is closed with ICU physicians serving as primary, and the Neurosurgery service is supported by APPs, Trauma Surgery, Hospitalists and affiliated medical residents.
This opening is best suited for a Neurosurgeon who is actively or recently covering Level I or Level II trauma and has current or recent hands-on experience managing both cranial and spine emergencies. Recent neurotrauma experience - including operative cases, procedural volume and current trauma call responsibilities - will be important for consideration.
Coverage is expected to begin in October and continue on an ongoing basis. An active California license is required.
