Neurosurgery opportunity available in California
Assignment Length: Ongoing
Schedule: 24-hour call shifts; 6:00 a.m.–6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m.–7:00 a.m.
Additional Details:
5–10 shifts per month
Weekday and weekend coverage required
Call-only position with inpatient rounding while on call
No clinic or elective surgery responsibilities
Must be able to arrive at the hospital within 20 minutes of receiving a call
Level I Trauma Center
APP available from 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
General Surgery residents are first call from 5:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. and may assist in the OR when available
Must be able to interpret brain and spine CT/MRI findings and complete consult or progress notes
Emergency neurosurgery procedures required, including EVD or ICP monitor placement
Experience with craniotomy/craniectomy for traumatic pathology and cervical, thoracic, or lumbar spine stabilization for unstable fractures
Permanent staff handle elective cases
Licensure: Active California medical license required
Requirements: Completion of a Neurosurgery residency and at least two years of Neurosurgery experience preferred. Strong trauma experience may be considered in lieu of two years.
Certifications: ACLS required
DEA: Active California DEA required for full schedules
Credentialing: Approximately 90 days
