Job description

Start: As soon as credentialed (urgent)
Length: Through January 4, 2027; weekly blocks, 7:00 Monday to 7:00 the following Monday
Coverage: Inpatient neurosurgery
Schedule: 24-hour shifts, 7:00–7:00, in weekly blocks
Call: 24-hour call while on service; includes phone-only transfer consults for an affiliated hospital; about 5–8 weeknight callbacks per day and about 2 weekend callbacks
Volume: Daily caseload of 5–7 patients; 3–4 weeknight admissions per week; 1–2 weekend admissions
Practice Setting: Acute care hospital with 7 ORs
Procedures: Adult general neurosurgery, general spine, and cranial procedures

• Inpatient adult neurosurgery: general, spine, and cranial
• Supported by 2 flexible MDs and 1 PA
• Documentation in Epic
• Locum coverage while a permanent neurosurgeon is recruited

Requirements
• Board Certified in Neurosurgery
• Active Virginia license required at time of submission
• Virginia DEA (or DEA with a Virginia address)
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
