Position Overview
Advanced Women’s Care is seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN Nocturnist to provide dedicated overnight coverage for our growing Glendale practice.
The Nocturnist serves as an extension of the daytime OB/GYN team, providing continuity of care for established practice patients while managing urgent obstetric and gynecologic needs overnight. The Nocturnist will also work collaboratively with Practice Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), hospital-based OB/GYN Hospitalists, nursing, anesthesia, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and other members of the hospital care team.
Schedule & Coverage
14-hour overnight shifts: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM.
On average, two (2) overnight shifts per week.
Up to two hospital assignments per scheduled shift, with assigned facilities located within approximately a 5-mile radius of one another.
Remote or in-house call coverage, depending on hospital and Practice needs, with a required maximum response time of 30 minutes when providing remote coverage.
No routine daytime clinic responsibilities.
Structured morning handoff to the daytime OB/GYN team to support continuity of care.
Collaboration with Practice CNMs, hospital-based OB/GYN Hospitalists, nursing, anesthesia, MFM, and other members of the hospital care team.
Schedule developed collaboratively based on Practice, provider, and hospital coverage needs.
Core Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive remote or in-house overnight obstetric and gynecologic coverage. Response time of maximum 30 minutes required when providing remote coverage.
Manage labor and delivery, obstetric triage, and postpartum patients.
Evaluate and manage established practice patients presenting with urgent or emergent concerns.
Assess and manage high-risk labor, fetal distress, postpartum complications, and other acute obstetric conditions.
Perform vaginal and operative deliveries, including primary and repeat cesarean sections and operative vaginal deliveries when clinically appropriate.
Respond to obstetric and gynecologic emergencies requiring immediate physician evaluation.
Provide emergency department and inpatient gynecologic consultations as assigned.
Evaluate and manage unassigned patients when required under the applicable hospital coverage arrangement.
Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, neonatology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and other hospital-based specialists.
Communicate significant clinical developments with the patient's primary OB/GYN when appropriate.
Complete timely and accurate medical documentation in accordance with Practice and hospital standards.
Provide comprehensive morning handoffs to the daytime physician team to ensure continuity of care.
Work collaboratively with Practice CNMs in the management of laboring patients, providing physician consultation, escalation of care, and operative support when clinically indicated.
Partner with hospital-based OB/GYN Hospitalists to ensure timely evaluation and management of obstetric emergencies, unassigned patients, and other acute clinical needs in accordance with hospital and Practice protocols.
Provide physician and surgical backup for CNM-managed patients, including cesarean delivery and management of higher-acuity or complicated obstetric conditions.
Maintain clear communication among the Nocturnist, CNMs, Hospitalists, and daytime Practice physicians to promote continuity of care and effective transitions between teams.
Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, neonatology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and other hospital-based specialists as clinically appropriate.
Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynec
