OB/GYN Physician - Ongoing 24-Hour Call Coverage in California
Job description
Aya Locums is working with a California hospital seeking an OB/GYN physician for ongoing 24-hour call coverage. The need is expected to continue long term, with approximately 14-20 days of coverage available each month across weekdays, weekends and holidays.
This is primarily OB-focused coverage in a lower-volume setting. The hospital reports an average of 0-2 deliveries per day. The physician should be comfortable attending deliveries, performing cesarean sections when indicated and evaluating the occasional obstetric patient who may require transfer to a higher level of care. There is also a small outpatient census of approximately 2-6 patients per day, which the facility notes can usually be managed by telephone.
The support structure includes three OB nurses per shift with newborn-care and NRP experience, an OB tech, pediatric support for newborn care and follow-up, and lactation consultants. The hospital uses MedHost, while the maternal services department uses Centricity.
An active California license is required at the time of submission, along with an active California DEA or one that can be readily transferred and current CSR. Recent inpatient hospital affiliation within OB/GYN during the past two years is also required. The physician must be comfortable performing C-sections.
This could be a strong fit for an OB/GYN looking for consistent, ongoing locum coverage in California without stepping into a high-volume delivery service. I would also be happy to discuss your preferred schedule and what would make a locum assignment worthwhile for you.
- Ongoing need for 14-20 days of coverage per month
- Low-volume OB service averaging 0-2 deliveries per day
- Strong OB nursing and newborn support structure
