About the facility

This inpatient health system facility provides obstetric and gynecologic services to an adult patient population, supported by an established practice of 27 physicians and 9 Advanced Practice Providers. The facility maintains a NICU supported by a children's hospital at a separate medical center, with clinical protocols and structured workflows in place to support continuous care delivery. Clinical operations are conducted on-site in accordance with 24-hour in-house shift coverage requirements.

The North Carolina High Country - encompassing the Boone, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock area - is a mountain destination offering year-round outdoor recreation. Clinicians on assignment will find skiing at Beech Mountain Resort, which sits at an elevation of 5,506 feet and ranks as the highest ski resort in eastern North America, as well as hiking, biking, and scenic attractions including the area's oldest travel attraction. A range of dining, local shops, and seasonal festivals suited to varied interests are also accessible throughout the region.

About the clinician's workday

Clinicians will provide inpatient obstetric and gynecologic coverage through 24-hour in-house shifts on an on-site basis, with coverage needed from January 2027 through August 2027, including nights and weekends. Clinical responsibilities encompass ED consults, GYN service, emergent gynecologic surgeries, and labor and delivery, with an average inpatient census of 50, approximately 10 admissions per day, and 5 admissions per night. Call coverage is a required component of this assignment and will be shared with other OB/GYN generalists within the department and with a Certified Nurse Midwife. Required procedures include cesarean delivery, D&C (obstetric and gynecologic), diagnostic and operative laparoscopy, and urgent or emergent gynecologic cases; BLS and board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology are required.
