Locums OB/Gyn position with easy access to Charleston, SC
Job description
Location: Conveniently located right off I-95 along the North Carolina/South Carolina border and a short drive to Florence, Charleston, Myrtle, and many other amazing, southern destinations.
Facility: A healthcare system based in South Carolina, known for its network of hospitals, medical centers, and services across the region.
Opportunity: Seeking a Board Certified OB/Gyn for locums call coverage
Assignment Details:
- We are seeking locum OBGYNs to provide outpatient(clinic) coverage, clinic call coverage, and inpatient OB Hospitalist coverage
- We will need 2 locum OBGYNs covering at the same time in the clinic every week. Candidates must be willing to cover full stretches of weeks, strongly preferring candidates that can cover a minimum of 2 weeks a month. We really want continuity of care here, so we really want candidates seeking consistent, ongoing opportunities. See clinic details below:
- Clinic is open Monday – Friday.
- Clinic Volumes = 40 patients a day (20 in the morning and 20 in the afternoon).
- The locum will have their own pod with an assigned MA and Nurse
- We have 3 ultrasound rooms/techs in the office
- IUD insertion to be expected in the clinic as well
- These locums will also participate in the call rotation for the clinic as well (acting like a true “partner” for the practice). See call details below:
- Currently it is a 1:6 call rotation, but that will turn into a 1:8 call rotation with the 2 additional locums.
- Call rotates between the partners every 24 hours.
- The Physicians do not go into the office on call days, instead they will be on L&D.
- We have a Nurse Practitioner that comes and performs rounds in the mornings on L&D and assists with discharges, but around 10 am the NP goes to the practice for the day.
- While on call, the Physician can expect anywhere from 6-12 deliveries per day.
- Physicians will only work ½ day post call when coming off of clinic call
- We also have sporadic needs on the inpatient side with our OB Hospitalist shifts as well. See details below:
- Example: if they worked inpatient 7a Wednesday – 7a Thursday, they would be off to rest Thursday 7a – Friday 7a.
- These shifts typically are 24-hour inhouse shifts (running from 7a-7a); however, we are willing to be flexible and have someone cover the night portion only (7p-7a) if we can’t find people interested in the full 24-hour shift. Full 24 hour shift coverage is preferred though.
- These shifts are 100% INHOUSE SHIFTS. Candidates are expected to be onsite the full duration of their inpatient shift.
- We only need 1 locum to cover the inpatient shifts at a time
- Physicians can expect anywhere from 6-12 deliveries and up to 20 patients a day from the OBED in an average 24-hour shift
- Physicians coming off of 24-hour inpatient coverage, will get 24 hours off post call.
- We would prefer to have the same candidates covering clinic, clinic call, and the sporadic inpatient coverage, but we are open to splitting the clinic and clinic call piece from the inpatient OB Hospitalist shifts.
- We have a Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic onsite, and we have MFM Physicians available on call as well.
- MRMC has a 52 bed, level 3 NICU onsite as well.
- EMR = EPIC
Compensation: Competitive Hourly Rate with weekly pay and malpractice included. Paid Travel and Lodging.
