OB Hospitalist Opportunity – Ongoing Coverage
Job description
A hospital system is seeking a Board-Certified OB Hospitalist for ongoing scheduled coverage. This role offers 12- or 24-hour shift options in a high-acuity, team-based environment.
Schedule:
12-hour shifts:
6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
6:30 PM – 6:30 AM
24-hour shifts (or reverse 24s) available for interested providers
Ongoing coverage needed
Responsibilities:
Maintain active awareness of all patients on L&D, antepartum, postpartum, and OBED units
Respond to obstetric and gynecologic emergencies
Evaluate and manage all unassigned OB/GYN patients, regardless of payor status
Manage unassigned obstetrical patients from admission through discharge
Perform deliveries when community OBs are unable to arrive in time
Provide emergent management until primary OB arrives and assume care as needed
Accept and coordinate transfers of high-risk or critically ill OB/GYN patients
Manage and deliver MFM patients as clinically indicated
Assist with complicated deliveries, including TOLAC management
Provide hospital-wide OB consultative support
Surgical management of unassigned gynecology patients
Facility Acuity:
Coverage may include facilities with varying maternal and NICU levels, including:
Maternal Levels II–IV
NICU Levels II–IV
This role involves high-acuity obstetric care depending on site assignment.
Practice Setting:
Inpatient hospital setting
Requirements:
Board Certified in OB/GYN
Active Texas license required
Minimum of 5 years of OB experience
Must have a completely clean malpractice, background, and license history to qualify for temporary privileges
Credentialing:
Standard timeframe: Approximately 90 days
Temporary privileges possible for providers with a fully clean file
