Inpatient Call Coverage OBGYN

Job description

We are seeking a board-certified OB/GYN physician for flexible locum tenens coverage at a growing Virginia practice. This opportunity offers 24-hour hospital call coverage with the potential for occasional outpatient clinic shifts. Local candidates will receive first consideration.

Assignment Details
Start: ASAP
Coverage: PRN/variable
Full-week call coverage and consecutive-day availability preferred
Providers available once per month will also be considered
Practice setting: Hospital and outpatient clinic
EMR: Epic
Level II NICU

Schedule
Inpatient coverage:

24-hour restricted hospital call
Standard shift: 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
Average weekend callbacks: 2–3
Average weekend admissions: 2

When serving as backup to the CNM, coverage is unrestricted call. During longer coverage blocks, CNMs may share portions of the schedule to provide the physician with breaks.

Practice Details
Growing OB/GYN practice with approximately 20 deliveries per month, with volume expected to increase to 40 or more
Provider will primarily care for established patients
Practice participates in unassigned hospital call for patients presenting through the ED
Approximately six unassigned ED visits or admissions per month
Support includes two nurses, front-office staff, a manager, an assistant practice manager, a sonographer, and L&D nursing staff
One dedicated L&D operating room and four main operating rooms
Cesarean deliveries are generally performed in the L&D operating room

Vaginal deliveries
Cesarean deliveries
Circumcisions
Hysteroscopy
Surgical management of missed or incomplete abortion
D&C with or without suction
Hysterectomy
Ovarian cystectomy
Management of OB/GYN emergencies
Emergent gynecologic procedures are rare

Requirements
Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Active Virginia medical license
Virginia DEA registration or documented intent to obtain or transfer registration
Current full-scope OB/GYN experience
Ability to independently manage inpatient OB/GYN care, deliveries, surgical cases, and hospital call
Current CV and completed credentialing documentation
Ability to meet facility immunization and medical staff requirements
