Full Time Physician Medical Director

The Quad Cities region spans the Mississippi River along the Iowa–Illinois border and includes Davenport and Bettendorf (IA), and Moline and Rock Island (IL), along with surrounding communities. The area is known for its industrial roots, vibrant cultural scene, and scenic riverfront.

Opportunity
A Global Fortune 500 company is seeking an experienced Physician Medical Director to lead its Occupational Health program in the Quad Cities. This role is ideal for a physician leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and can balance clinical care with leadership, client engagement, training, mentorship, and program oversight.

Position Overview

  • 80% direct patient care / 20% administrative responsibilities
  • Provide and oversee comprehensive occupational health services in an outpatient setting
  • Lead and support PAs/NPs through supervision, consultation, and education
  • Partner with clients on occupational health initiatives and best practices

Scope of Services

  • Evaluation and treatment of work-related and non-work-related illnesses and injuries
  • Workers’ compensation and regulatory/DOT exams
  • Preventive care and medical surveillance
  • Fit-for-duty and pre-placement evaluations
  • Urgent/episodic care
  • Initial evaluation and stabilization for higher-level care or EMS transfer
  • Application of MD Guidelines in clinical decision-making

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Direct medical practice of PAs/NPs
  • Provide consultation and mentorship
  • Identify and support clinical education needs
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture
  • Maintain client relationships and service excellence

Practice Requirements

  • Establish required PA/NP practice plans or collaboration agreements per state regulations
  • Utilize Medcor practice agreements when state templates are not specified

Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted medical licenses in Illinois and Iowa
  • One of the following:
    • Board Certified in Occupational Medicine
    • Dual Board Certification (Occupational Medicine + Primary Care specialty)
    • Board Certified in Internal or Family Medicine with Sports Medicine training
    • Board Certified in Emergency Medicine with occupational health and orthopedic experience
  • Current DEA registration (and state-controlled substance registration if applicable)
  • BLS certification and DOT certification

Skills & Experience

  • Proven leadership and team management abilities
  • Experience building a positive, supportive clinical culture
  • Strong occupational health and workers’ compensation background
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and technology
  • Ability to lift a 30 lb medical bag as needed
