IHS Optometrist Needed in Lame Deer, MT (Any state licenses)

Job description

Location: Lame Deer, Montana
Start Date: June 2026
Assignment Length: 26 Weeks
Contract: Ongoing (6+ Months)

Schedule:

* Monday–Friday
* 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
* Full-time preferred
* Flexible scheduling available:

* 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
* Month on / month off
* Part-time considered

Practice Setting:

* IHS Facility
* Bread-and-butter optometry cases
* Previous Native or rural health experience preferred

Patient Volume:

* Approximately 12–14 patients per day
* Appointment times range from 20–30 minutes

Services Provided:

* Routine comprehensive eye exams
* Acute eye irritation and foreign body evaluations
* Glaucoma screening and treatment
* Diabetic retinopathy screening using JVN imaging system
* Referrals to specialty ophthalmology services
* No surgical procedures performed onsite

Clinic Support:

* One Medical Support Assistant currently onsite
* Support includes:

* Operating JVN imaging system
* Eyeglass ordering and repairs
* General clinic coordination and support
* Optometry Technician position currently in hiring process

Travel:

* All-inclusive rates only
* No travel reimbursements

Licensure:

* Any active state license accepted

Credentialing Timeframe:

* Approximately 60 days
