Assignment Overview

Orthopedic Surgery practice seeking an experienced Surgical Physician Assistant to support both clinic and hospital-based surgical cases. This is a full-time role with a balanced mix of outpatient clinic, operating room responsibilities, and call coverage.

Provider Requirements

Physician Assistant (PA)

Board Certified

Active California license

DEA required

BLS and ACLS required

Minimum of 1+ year of orthopedic surgery experience

Strong first-assist experience required

Clinical Responsibilities

First assist in orthopedic surgical cases

Pre-operative and post-operative care in both clinic and hospital settings

Perform outpatient procedures including:

Joint injections

Suture removal

Manage perioperative patient care for adult and geriatric populations

Common Surgical Cases

Knee, hip, and shoulder procedures

Total joint replacements (most common)

Schedule & Coverage

Monday–Friday

Clinic Days: Monday, Tuesday, Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Surgery Days: Wednesday and Thursday | Variable hours

Full-time coverage

Call Requirements

2 weeks of call per month: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM

2 weekends per month

High-volume weekends (approximately 20 calls per weekend)

Patient Volume

Outpatient clinic: ~20 patients per day (in-person and virtual)

Surgical cases: 3–4 per day

Practice Environment

Combination of clinic/private practice and hospital-based settings

Support staff includes medical assistants and front desk personnel

EMR: Epic

Credentialing

Outpatient credentialing: approximately 60 days

Hospital credentialing: approximately 90 days
