Orthopedic/Sports Medicine Surgeon Needed in Aurora, CO | Locum Opening | ASAP Start

Job description

We are seeking a Sports Medicine fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon for a locum opportunity at a Level II Trauma Center located just outside of Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for a surgeon comfortable with a broad sports medicine case mix, including advanced ligament reconstruction and hip arthroscopy procedures.

Position Highlights
Setting: Level II Trauma Center
Start Date: ASAP
Assignment Length: 6 months

Schedule:
2 clinic days per week (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with 1-hour lunch)
2 OR days per week (OR starts at 7:30 AM)
Current OR days are Monday and Friday, but scheduling flexibility available for the right candidate
Clinical Scope
Traditional Sports Medicine practice with bread-and-butter sports cases
Required procedural experience includes:
ACL / MCL / PCL reconstruction
Meniscus procedures
Multi-ligament knee procedures
Hip arthroscopy (required)
Clinic volume: Approximately 25–30 patients per day
Surgical volume: Approximately 8–10 surgeries per week
Call Responsibilities
Weekend Call:
1 in 7 weekends
Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
Weeknight Call:
Shared among 7 surgeons
Some weeks no call, other weeks 1 night/week
Call night aligns with one scheduled workday

Responsibilities include:
Taking ER consult calls
Inpatient rounding within 24 hours of admission per bylaws
Requirements
Fellowship trained in Orthopedic Sports Medicine
Experience with multi-ligament procedures required
Hip arthroscopy experience required
Active Illinois license or IMLC required
Will consider providers needing Illinois licensure through IMLC

Support & Environment
Collaborative orthopedic team with:
6 Orthopedic Surgeons
11 total physician providers
APP support available
APPs assist with post-op visits
APPs serve as first assists in the OR
APPs assist with ER call coverage from home
EMR: Epic
Additional Details
Travel expenses billable
Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 3 months for temporary privileges
Located approximately 45 minutes outside downtown Chicago
