Job description

We are seeking a Board Certified, Fellowship-Trained Orthopedic Surgeon for a locum opportunity in Waterloo, Iowa. This is a hospital-based position providing 24-hour inpatient and on-call coverage across two medical centers, with no clinic responsibilities. The provider will evaluate, diagnose, and surgically treat a wide range of orthopedic conditions affecting patients of all ages, including trauma, fractures, infections, tumors, musculoskeletal disorders, spinal conditions, and degenerative diseases. Responsibilities also include emergency consultations, inpatient rounding, and responding to all facility call inquiries. The practice utilizes Epic Enterprise EMR and is supported by 4 orthopedic surgeons and 4 advanced practice providers. Candidates must be Board Certified, Fellowship Trained, hold an active Iowa license or IMLC, and have an excellent malpractice/background history.

• Hospital-Based Call Only – 24-hour inpatient and call coverage at two hospital locations with no clinic responsibilities.
• Comprehensive Orthopedic Practice – Treat patients of all ages with trauma, fractures, spine disorders, infections, tumors, and other musculoskeletal conditions using Epic Enterprise EMR.
• Multiple Coverage Blocks Available – Coverage needed for September, November, and December 2026, working alongside 4 orthopedic surgeons and 4 APPs.
